Destination Wedding Scrolls and Thank You Card

My niece just got married in Belize, and since it was a destination wedding the favours were a bit of an issue because there is only so much space in a bride's luggage!  So the happy couple came up with a wonderful alternative...my niece who is a breast cancer survivor, and her husband decided to make a generous donation in each guest's name to the organization that was so helpful in getting her through her treatments and surgeries.  The guests that were there had also been a big support to them, and they felt it would be a way that they could keep on giving.  So the favours were a scroll explaining to each guest about the donation being made in their name.  My niece asked me to make them have an antique-y, treasure map feel about them.  This is what I came up with:

Here is the thank you card for those that attended or helped in her destination wedding:
I used versamark with seafoam white embossing powder.  I really liked how the white contrasted the ocean blue colour.

Gift Bag

I made this birthday gift bag for my step mother's birthday.  It was perfect for the jewellery that we bought her.

Too Many Sympathy Cards (One is Too Many!)

I had to make several sympathy cards back in the fall.  Between the deaths in the family (my aunt, my uncle, dh's grandfather) and the deaths of several friends' family members, I was so glad when I actually didn't need to make any more sympathy cards.

I used some stickers up that I had just to make it simple and easy to make so many at once.  So glad I had them on hand.

New Baby Card

I made this card to go with a gift when my great nephew was born.  He's a special baby as his mom is a breast cancer survivor and was told she'd not be able to conceive after her treatments.  So glad the doctor's were wrong as he is such a happy and healthy baby!

I know, I know!  It's like spring outside and I'm finally posting my Christmas cards.  Sorry I'm so late, but better late than never right?

Last of the Birthday Cards

This card was copied from a card I saw in a magazine, probaby Paper Crafts or Card Creations, but not sure.  Sorry I can't give credit where credit is due.

For this card I stamped my own background.

Let's Start Off With Baby Shower Cards!

Above:  This baby shower gift card was made for someone at church who is having a baby girl.
Below:  I was asked to make 65 baby shower invitations for a client who is helping host a baby shower for her sister and nephew to be.  She told me what she was wanting as far as font, graphics and text, and this is what I came up with.  This is my first card with a belly band and I kind of like the added touch it gives.

FINALLY! I Finally Have Time To Post Again

This past year has been so crazy for my family and I.  I had to go back to work last May (until January), I had surgery, my sister had several surgeries, my niece got married and had a baby, in the fall we had 6 funerals, but on the positive side and best of all my husband got a short term contract job and then in January he finally landed a new job that was the kind of job he was actually hoping for.  Three years of unemployment woes have officially come to an end!  So FINALLY life is starting to return to normal and that means having the time and the mindset to be able to focus on my blog again.  I continued to make cards but have been too busy to post anything until now.  I have several cards and projects to post, so I am going to try in the next few days to get them all set up so that there will be a new post every day until I get all caught up.  I hope you will keep checking back in and give me your feedback which is always welcome!

Christmas Money Card

I can't believe it has taken me this long to post something.  I don't know how you working women do it?  I started working last may, and although I have found time to make cards, I just haven't found the time to post them.  Hopefully things will change in the new year, especially as my job will be coming to an end.

Here is a Christmas card I was asked to make for a friend who is giving money to her sister as a gift.  The first picture is the card closed, and the second is open showing the inside.

Mother's Day Card & Gift Box

I'm a little slow at posting, but this is what I made for my mil for Mother's Day.  The first is her card, and below that is the 2-4-7-10 box that I made for her.  We used the box for a pair of earrings we got for her.  It was such a nice way to wrap up something so tiny.  These boxes are made out of a single sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, and are extremely easy to make.

I used pearl embossing powder and Versamark ink for the butterfly, and for the sentiment I used a mauve pigment ink with the pearl eb powder.  The flowers were made with the Martha Stewart hydrangea punch.

Bridal Shower Invitation

My niece is in her friend's wedding and is hosting a bridal shower for her so she asked me to make the invitations.  The bride chose a tangerine orange for her main colour, so this is the invitation I came up with.

Bridal Shower Thank You Card

These are the thank you cards for the bridal shower.

Wedding Favours

My niece's friend is getting married so she bought 50 boxes of chocolates to give as favours, but she didn't know how to dress them up and put a thankyou tag on them.  That became my job, and this is the final result.  The tag sentiment is, "Sweets to end the sweetest day.  Enjoy!"  It also has their names and wedding date on it.

Sympathy Cards

I needed to make a sympathy card for a friend who lost his mother.  I made a card and then decided it was much too froo-froo for he and his wife.  They are a couple who loves the country and being outdoors, and recently bought their first home on a beautiful piece of property with woods and a stream.  I decided to make another card that suited them a little more.  Can you tell which card I decided to send to them?
I masked and sponged the oval and moon, then stamped
the tree using my Lovely As a Tree stamp by SU.

I stamped the roses (Judi-kins) and coloured them with pencil crayons and gamsol, then sponged ink on the edges.  I layered plain cs with a sheet of HOTP printed vellum.
